About Us

Afrika Nunya is a pan-African think tank. Our objective is to create a framework for the achievement of the desire of African countries and its peoples to pursue good political and economic management aimed at reducing conflicts, improving security, and generating growth, improving human capital and ensuring a brighter future for Africans.

Afrika Nunya aims to provide a framework for dialogue, knowledge creation and dissemination, and exchange of ideas on the challenges facing Africa and its Diaspora, in order to propose evidence-based solutions and directions.

A catalyst for forward thinking, influential public conversations to effect change and build capacity for the development of Africa.

OUR OBJECTIVES

  • Create credible frameworks and platforms for intra-African dialogue and mediation to prevent and resolve conflicts on the continent.

  • Bring together African expertise to conduct research and produce policy proposals on the major challenges facing the continent.

  • Develop a space for the creation and dissemination of evident-based information;

  • Create, maintain and make available to practitioners, decision makers and the general public a database and documentation center;

  • Build the capacity of civil society organizations on key issues to prepare them to better contribute to national and international debates on Africa.

  • Facilitate mentoring and strengthening of analytical skills of young Africans on key development issues;

  • Establish partnerships and collaborate with all entities (state and non-state actors) that share the same vision of Africa capable of developing itself based primarily on African human, intellectual and material resources;

  • Promote locally, nationally, and continentally owned good practices across the continent.

OUR FOCUS AREAS

Peace and Security

  • Contributing to the ongoing conversations around democracy and the need to build authentic, sustainable, inclusive and balanced democratic models

  • Creating African-specific frameworks for reflection, research and analysis, as ways to consolidate peace

  • Analysing regional mechanisms involved in the promoting of effective peace and security, conflict prevention, management frameworks.

Sustainable Development

  • Promoting youth empowerment through initiatives that promote knowledge exchange, skills development, networking, and intra-African cooperation in the areas of trade, technology, sociology and economic development

  • Creating awareness for the Kampala and Nairobi Declarations (including pledges) and monitoring their implementation by all the relevant stakeholders.

  • Promoting women leadership on climate action issues:

  • Advocating for climate justice issues.

  • Exploring the role of business in promoting a circular economy in Africa

Human Rights

  • Promoting nexus between human rights, development, peace and security using a rights based approach to climate issues and the protection of the environment

  • Working to assist national governments in strengthening their judicial systems
